Who we are and what we do
We opened Acme in Byron Bay in 2016. The roastery and cafe sit at 12 Jonson Street, and we have worked from that building every day since. We source green beans, roast them on site, cup every batch, and serve from the counter. We supply cafes across Byron Bay, Bangalow, Mullumbimby, and Lennox Head. Wholesale is the main part of what we do, not something we fitted in around the cafe. We are members of the Australian Specialty Coffee Association. That membership reflects our sourcing standards and our cupping discipline. It is not a piece of paper on the wall.
From the sack to the cup
We source green beans from importers who can trace the lot to the farm. Our criteria are simple: the cup has to be right. We cup every sample before we buy and we do not put a bean on the roaster that we would not serve ourselves. Our cupping programme runs week to week. Every roast gets cupped before it goes out. For wholesale accounts this matters because it means the coffee arriving at your cafe went through the same check as the sample you tasted when we first met.
